The Flemish region of Belgium created university colleges (UCs) to bundle profession-oriented programmes and applied research. Development of the region in close cooperation with its alumni and the world of work is the UCs’ primary purpose. Following the merger, UC Leuven-Limburg is now among Flanders’ largest UCs and has thus become a major player in its higher educational landscape.
