Aim of the organization:
The grassroots ARTconnects project was established to stop hate from spreading in communities, promote peace and tolerance, and empower vulnerable women. The project was created in reaction to increasing hate crimes and divisions in communities across the UK. This was to address the global challenge of the lack of peace and security through culture and education. This work is very relevant as it uses a community-based and grassroots approach.
Describe your areas of intervention:
ARTconnects is based on involving people from different faiths & backgrounds in creative activity, teaching creative skills and building common ground through art and dialogue. It aims to change negative media stereotypes through art and film by telling the story of shared human experiences of migration. workshops provide space for insights of sector and subject matter experts on topics including media coverage of refugees, migrant experiences, women’s rights, conflict, & the importance of peace
